Libby Stewart (Barnes) VIEW PROFILE

From Wade Hulcy:

With a sad heart, I must tell you that Libby Stewart passed away on 10/28 after a long, hard fought battle with frontal lobe dementia.  To know Libby was to love her.  Sweet, sassy, beautiful, full of laughter; such a lover of life!  She leaves behind my nephew, Craig Hulcy and his wife, Andrea, and their twins Michael (Kansas State) and Maddie (SMU), Sister Debbie Stewart Tolleson, brother Tommy Stewart, as well as son Ryan Williams of New Mexico.  Hard to believe she's gone at 73 because, like many of you, I can still envision Libby in that white cowboy hat and Bisonette uniform!  Memorial service plans are on hold because of Covid, but a small, family gathering is the probable course down the road.  Join me in praying for her family.
PS Would love to see what memories/pics you have so post if you can.

From Bisonettes, likely Jacketeers, Westminster Choir, Concert Choir, etc. and add running into Libby as a REALTOR later in our lives, she was always a bright shining star.  It was always such a happy day when our paths would cross from the purchase of her first home, to seeing her at Christmas Parties for business many years later.  I was so sad when I heard she was fighting dementia, and even moreso knowing that light is gone from us for now.  She was beautiful and will be missed.

Although I knew Libby in Greiner, I got to know her better when we stood next to each other in Bisonettes and in Concert Choir.  It was always so hot at those choir concerts and we were packed like sardines on those risers. If someone passed out, you just squeezed together and kept singing.  One time I thought she was fainting , so I held her up.  She thought I was the one fainting, so she held me up!  Even Mr. White thought it was funny.

We always had so much fun.  I think of her as always laughing and joking. Libby always looked so pretty and put together.  She will be greatly missed.  I am so sorry to hear of her passing.  I am sure she has them laughing in heaven.

Libby was one of my across the creek friends. Our birthdays were two days apart (with Carol Atchley in between). We had so much fun through all our schools, whether we were following the written rules of our "Creek Club"  like what to do when you come across a snake, or being Bisonnettes, or having fun singing. I am always saddened when we lose one of our fellow Bisons, but thinking of funny, vibrant, beautiful Libby living with dementia in her last chapter brought me to tears. I always have thought of her on June 25th, and will continue to remember fondly our times in the creek. Rest in peace, lovely friend.

Libby sat behind me in Spanish in Mrs. Venable's class. She was always so sweet.  We were also in Bisonettes together.  I was jealous of her beautiful hair.  So thick and never a hair out of place!

Ms. Elizabeth Rae Barnes
JUNE 25, 1947 – OCTOBER 28, 2020

Elizabeth “Libby” Barnes, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2020 in Dallas after battling Progressive Supernuclear Palsy (PSP) since 2017. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all that knew and loved her. Libby is survived by her son and daughter in law, Craig and Andrea Hulcy and her grandchildren Mike and Maddie Hulcy of Coppell, TX, her son and daughter in law Ryan and Angelica Williams of Truth or Consequences, NM, her sister and brother in law, Debbie and John Tolleson of Dallas, her brother Tommy Stewart of Argyle, Texas, TX and her faithful companion “Spike”. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Barnes and her parents, Ray and Martha Stewart. Libby was born on June 25, 1947 in Dallas, TX to Ray and Martha Stewart, grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas, graduated from Sunset High School, and later attended the University of North Texas. Libby raised her sons, Craig and Ryan, in Lakewood and worked as a real estate agent with David Perry Miller. She was known to many for her outgoing personality and her loving generosity. An expert conversationalist, Libby never forgot a face, and made everyone feel like a dear friend. A “quick” trip to the store could take over an hour because of all the people she needed to stop and talk to. Libby was known to her grandchildren as “Mimi” and had a special connection with Mike and Maddie sharing her love for cooking and gardening and having fun! She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
