Ronald Fritz Duckworth AUGUST 11, 1946 – APRIL 4, 2021

Ronald Fritz Duckworth, a resident of Arlington, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2021. He was born in Kemp, Oklahoma, on August 11, 1946, to Joe and Retha Faye Duckworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyllis Duckworth. He is survived by his wife of 35-1/2 years, Theresa Duckworth, and his daughter, Birgit Rauschuber, his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Laura Duckworth, and his grandchildren, Alex Rauschuber, Ryan Rauschuber and Claudia Duckworth. He is also survived by his sister Joey Furr. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas. A committal service will follow at 1:15 pm at the DFW National Cemetery. 

Ron loved his faith, family, and friends, in that order. He converted to Catholicism as a young man and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He dearly loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He was a master wit who loved nothing more than sitting back and jawing with anyone who wanted to talk. Although he was born in Oklahoma, Ron and his family moved to Texas when he was a young boy, and he considered himself a Texan through and through. 

Due to COVID restrictions, flowers are not allowed at the cemetery. To honor Ron’s memory, please do one of the following: 

Eat chicken fried steak at one of his favorite restaurants: Norma’s Café in Oak Cliff, The Smokestack Restaurant in Thurber, Texas, or the Willow Creek Café in Mason, Texas. 

Listen to songs by a few of his favorite musicians: Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P. Nunn, or Willie Nelson. 

Drink one of his favorite beers: Shiner Bock, Lone Star, or Guinness. 

Watch a game played by one of his favorite sports teams: Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, or the Texas Longhorns. 

Watch a match played by one of his favorite soccer teams: FC Bayern Munich, Aston Villa FC, or the US Women’s National Soccer Team. 

Visit one of his favorite sites in Texas: Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Mason, or The Big Bend National Park. 

Donate to one of his favorite causes: Bat World Sanctuary, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or the National Democratic Party.
